In front of Giewont itself, a large limestone rock protrudes from the dense forest; it is called Sarnia Skała, although it used to be called rather Mala Świnica or Świnia Skała. A hiking trail leads to it, which is a branch of the Path over the Alps departing from the Red Pass. This makes it fairly easy to access whether from the White Valley or Strążyska Valley. Remaining in the constant shadow of the towering Giewont, Sarnia Skała is full of natural curiosities and rare plants. Among tourists, it is known as the best vantage point towards the Sleeping Knight, as well as with an excellent panorama of Zakopane.
Walking from Strążyska you will reach Sarnia Skała after 4 km, it should take you about 2 hours. The trail from the Bialy Valley is slightly longer - 5.5 km. The optimal trip leads first through the White Valley and the return from Sarnia Skała through the Strążyska Valley. Such a trip is about 9.5 km and will take with stops and admiring the magnificent Tatra nature about 5 hours.
